TACCIA Pearl Kaleidoscope™ Maki-e Limited Edition

Email me:  to reserve a pen with deposit

TACCIA is proud to introduce the TACCIA Pearl Kaleidoscope™ Maki-e Limited Edition. The rare and extremely limited TACCIA Pearl Kaleidoscope™ Maki-e Limited Edition is built on the same graceful ebonite bodies as those on our heralded Hidden Treasures LE™ and Snowy Dreams LE™. Inspired by the dazzling, prismatic designs of a kaleidoscope, the TACCIA Pearl Kaleidoscope LE™ paints a vivid picture of sparkle, life, and beauty. The word "kaleidoscope" was derived from the Ancient Greek words "beauty", "shape", and "tool for examination", literally translating into "an observer of beautiful forms", and we at TACCIA believe its a fitting namesake for a pen of such form. Combining revolutionary new techniques with old-world charm, our Pearl Kaleidoscope LE™ utilizes lacquer carving, abalone inlay, natural black urushi lacquer, and delicate polishing skills to achieve a high-gloss shine and a level of three-dimensional depth that brings life to the detailed barrel. Each Pearl Kaleidoscope LE™ contains 366 pieces of hand-cut, hand-carved, and hand-inserted pearl slices onto the barrel. Urushi lacquer is then applied to the specially treated ebonite barrel, and polished with deer horn powder, mink brushes, and soft leather, to create the high sheen and textured relief. The TACCIA Pearl Kaleidoscope Maki-e LE™ will be available in Fall 2010, retailing for $1495 for Fountain Pen with 18k gold nib, and $1345 for Rollerball. Only 25 fountain pens and 15 rollerball pens will ever be made.

Bexley Owners Club 2010 - Limited Edition
Orange ~ Limited Edition ~ FINE Nib #077/117 - SALE $375.00
Black ~ Limited Edition ~ FINE Nib #032/117 - SALE $375.00

The 2010 Bexley Owners Club pen is created from an unusual material that, up to now, has not been used to make fountain pens.

This substance is called G-10. It has multiple layers of laminated fiberglass that have been impregnated with epoxy resins. The result is a highly stable, durable material that is often used as a substrate for printed circuit boards.

The G-10 material is used for the caps, barrels, end caps, and grip sections of the 2010 Bexley Owners Club pen. The surface has a checked pattern reminiscent of carbon fiber, but with a more subtle pattern. The color and pattern are all the way through the material, contributing to its depth of color and durability. It is polished to a smooth semi-gloss finish. The tactile feel of the G-10 is warm and inviting to the hand, in a similar way as hard rubber.

The 2010 Bexley Owners Club pen is available only as a fountain pen. In recognition of our seventeenth year, there are 117 fountain pens in black, and 117 in orange.

The pens also feature our special "violin" style clip. Each clip is hand cast from solid silver (900), and alloyed to make it even stronger. The clip and trim are plated in your choice of rhodium, or 23-carat yellow gold. Just specify your preference when you place your order.

The pens are equipped with Bexley's two-tone 18-carat solid gold nibs in fine, medium, broad, or broad stub widths. They fill from standard ink cartridges, or the supplied piston-filling converters.

In a world of mass production, it is a pleasure to produce a bench-made, high-quality product. In fact, Bexley Pen Company is the only writing instrument manufacturer still making fine fountain pens in the USA.

The Bexley Owners Club pens are produced in our factory in Columbus, Ohio. Our master craftsmen make each pen individually -- cutting, shaping, smoothing, test fitting, adjusting, assembling, polishing the body, installing your nib, and testing your finished pen for proper performance.

If you are the original owner of a Bexley pen, and have registered that pen with the Bexley Pen Company, you will receive a postcard with an unlock code. This gives you access to documents that allow you to order a 2010 Bexley Owners Club pen in early December, before this Limited Edition becomes available to the general public next February. In past years, the Bexley Owners Club pens have sold out quickly, so don't delay in placing your order.

It would be our privilege to make one for you. MSRP* for the fountain pen is $475  --   SKUs are 2010-Black and 2010-Orange

The 2009 Bexley Owners Club Edition uses a material that is highly sought-after by pen enthusiasts -- mottled hard rubber. This is a natural substance, manufactured from natural latex harvested from rubber plants, combined with sulfur to harden it, and oxides to color it. For example, lamp black had traditionally been added for black, and iron oxide for red hard rubber.

Pen aficionados often call it ebonite, and appreciate how it feels warmer to the touch than plastics, its durability, and its rich, deep colors.

In recognition of our sixteenth year, there are 116 fountain pens in red/black ebonite, and 116 in olive/black ebonite, both with yellow gold trim. There are also 116 fountain pens in blue/black ebonite with rhodium trim. The grip sections, plus the top and bottom screws are made from matching solid black ebonite. The pens also feature our popular roller ball clip and a 'rhomboid' style cap band.

The pens are equipped with Bexley's two-tone 18k solid gold nibs in fine, medium, broad, or broad stub widths. They fill from standard ink cartridges, or the supplied piston-filling converters.

The Bexley Owners Club pens are bench-made in our factory in Columbus, Ohio. Our master craftsmen make each pen individually - cutting, shaping, smoothing, test-fitting, adjusting, assembling, polishing the body, installing your nib, and testing the finished pen for proper performance.

Pen Review on the Limited Edition Hero Century Drgaon Pen
Todd,
I just received my pen order from you today. The Hero Century Dragon pen was everything that I expected and more. First, the pen itself is just beautifully intricate and detailed. There are even a few nice features that aren't apparent in the photos such as the laser engraved serial number around the base, and the lovely plaque of 4 kanji characters that you can only see a small piece of in the first photo. Although the pen is a snap rather than a screw top, the pen makes a very satisfying and high end sounding click of metal connecting to metal as the cap slides over the last of the grip and rests into its closed position. The clip is also extremely sturdy. As for the inner workings, I was pleased to find that the grip and barrel come together using a machined threaded screw that is also completely gold just as the outer details of the pen. The pen comes with a nice metal sheathed bladder for filling, but also accepts extra-long ink cartridges (I already tried the Waterman brand cartridges which function perfectly.) The pen writes smoothly with a fine to medium line, and in the one day of ownership so far, I have had no problems from it. The quality of this pen is exceptional, and I am sure it will become a treasured heirloom.
Regards,
Adam B
